What do you need help understanding?

Start with a symptom

Search what you observe—not what you think the failed part is. Several HVAC faults can produce the same symptom, and an on-site diagnosis is often needed before choosing a repair.

Carrier publishes a general central gas furnace installed planning range of $3,800–$12,000, citing HomeAdvisor. This is a national reference, not a Heco quote, wall-furnace price or complete furnace-plus-AC system price. Major duct, venting, gas or electrical changes can put a project above the range. Request a Heco site assessment.

SMUD's published residential project data checked October 27, 2026 shows a gas-to-electric heat-pump HVAC installation median of $18,951 before incentives. It describes the previous 12 months of single-measure program projects and is refreshed quarterly. It is not a Heco quote or a promise for your home. Scope and eligibility need a project assessment.

Yes. Heco evaluates gas-furnace/AC replacement with a matched electric heat-pump system. Load, ducts, electrical capacity, controls and installation conditions must be assessed. Heco can review applicable incentives, but equipment suitability, rebates and savings are not automatic.

Age alone does not decide. Compare a verified diagnosis, repair cost, warranty, overall condition, recurring failures, comfort, safety and the installed replacement proposal. Heco can explain repair and replacement options. An unsafe condition must be addressed before continued operation, regardless of system age.

No. Floor area alone is not enough for final sizing. Building envelope, windows, orientation, air leakage, ducts, climate and heating/cooling loads matter. Heco should assess the building and distribution system; online calculators provide planning estimates rather than final equipment selection.

No. Some properties can support the new equipment without a main-panel replacement; others need circuit or service changes. A qualified electrical assessment of capacity and the proposed equipment requirements determines the scope. Do not assume every conversion includes or avoids a panel upgrade.

Possibly. Existing ducts need evaluation for condition, leakage, sizing, layout and required airflow. Reuse is not guaranteed, and some projects need repairs or modifications. Heco can include the findings and proposed duct scope in the replacement estimate.

No specific bill reduction is guaranteed. Results depend on the old system, design and installation, weather, building, utility rates and use. Heco can explain efficiency ratings and project options, but a claim such as half your bill needs evidence for your home.

An approved local installed range for propane wall-furnace replacement is not established here. Heco needs the model, fuel arrangement, venting, access and site conditions for an estimate. Central furnace, electric wall-heater and equipment-only prices are not reliable substitutes. Do not assume an appliance can be converted between fuels.
